Driftwood Cup

The Driftwood Cup was created in honor of a long time Junior Sailing Instructor Bobby Horack, who taught for nearly a decade with his focus on fun, sportsmanship, and racing, in that order. Bobby taught us more than just sailing, he taught us to be kind, respectful and not be afraid to be ourselves. He loved being on Hull Bay and so we thought it would be fitting to honor him with a Regatta in his name.

Racing started off  in Turnabouts, single handed…of course, then moved to 420's and finally Rhodes 19's, but we realized we couldn't expand unless we changed the format.

For 2021 the Driftwood Cup went to a Chase model, where individual boats were given a handicap and time to start, much like the Great Chase Race held each September. This race is meant to be fun and instructive; the rules are loose with an emphasis on having fun on the water. All Sailboats over 12 feet are eligible!
